Welcoming Marielle: Co-CEO of TSOI with experience launching three new universities

Marielle van der Meer

Marielle van der Meer, the founding managing director (EME) of Minerva University, has joined The School of Innovation (TSOI) as our co-CEO. Her recruitment process, which lasted several months, highlights her high demand in the sector. Notably, Marielle is on track to become the individual who has helped to establish the highest number of universities globally, with TSOI being her fourth new university.

With extensive experience in establishing and growing universities across three continents, Marielle has held senior leadership roles at various startup institutions. She played a key role in Minerva University's development, as they went on to raise over £100m and expand across seven countries. Marielle was also part of the founding team at the London Interdisciplinary School, making valuable contributions to the accreditation application and their student experience, support, and partnerships strategy. Furthermore, Marielle served as Vice President of Global Affairs at the African Leadership University, where her responsibilities included building the university's global footprint, developing strategic partnerships, and driving international student recruitment.

Marielle brings over 20 years of international higher education experience, encompassing areas such as student recruitment, admissions, programme management, brand development, strategic partnerships, accreditation, and campus development. Her work spans public and private institutions in the Netherlands, the UK, the US, and Africa, providing her with a comprehensive understanding of the university market on a global scale. Her expertise will be crucial during the pre-launch, post-launch, and scale-up phases of TSOI as we continue to grow and evolve.
